Highland Creek is located in the easterly end of what was the
City of Scarborough.
HIGHLAND
CREEK COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION - BACKGROUND
groups were formed in the Highland Creek community area (The East Highland Creek Community Association and the West Highland Creek Community Association, both being non-incorporated entities, representing the eastern and western halves of the community, Morrish Road being the dividing line). under the auspices of the East Highland Creek Community Association and soon thereafter the West Highland Creek Community Association joined in as co-publisher. The Villager has continued uninterrupted since that date serving as a medium for listing community events, and activities, providing information to and from residents of Highland Creek and any other matters affecting the well being of the area. that they had common goals and faced common challenges, merged to form the Highland Creek Community Association.
CHANGES IN THE OFFICIAL PLAN
In November 2002, City Council adopted a new Official Plan for
the City of Toronto replacing the former OP's of Scarborough, North York,
Etobicoke, etc. That was approved in part by the Ministry of Municipal
Affairs and Housing. Subsequently, well over 150 parties appealed the
plan (portions or all of it) to the OMB.
The OMB has since been meeting with these parties to resolve the
objections raised and finally on July 6th., 2006 approved this latest
Official Plan with the agreed modifications. We do not know at this time
what, if any, modifications were made to the Highland Creek Secondary
Plan section of the Official Plan and trust it remains unchanged from
that originally approved. We await publication of the approved plan.
