Highland Creek Mechanics Institute incorporated, 28 January.
Library opened in Elliot's Hall
(Old Kingston Road near Military Trail), 1 March.
1913
Highland Creek Mechanics Institute becomes Highland Creek Public
Library. Library relocated
to a hardware store (Tredway-Knowles-Morrish) on the south side
of (Old) Kingston Road.
1938
Relocated to the home of the librarian, Gladys Kemp Cole, on Old
Kingston Road.
1954
Relocated to 22 Morrish Road, south of (Old) Kingston Road
beside the firehall, October.
1955
Taken over by the newly-formed Public Library Board of the
Township of Scarborough,
becoming one its first three branches. Officially opened 1
October.
1964
Relocated to a leased storefront at 277-279 Old Kingston Road,
15 March.
1994
Storefront location closed, June. Relocated to present location,
August. Officially opened, 29
September. Quadrangle Architects.
1996
Recipient of an Ontario Library Association Building Award for
Best Branch Library.
