Village of Highland Creek in Pictures

As well as the plaza on the north side of Old Kingston Road, there are solid commercial units built on the south side in several sections.  New facilities such as a library and shops are also found on Ellesmere Road to the north.  The core area still has auto lots fronting on the main street, and many auto related repair shops owing to the Highway Commercial zoning are at the entrance to the Village both east and west.  The surrounding residential area is undergoing rapid infilling and renovation or demolition of many older smaller homes.  'Mansionization' is the order of the day, with front elevations reminiscent of Tara and the deep south replacing the more modest older wooden homes. At the corner of Old Kingston Road and Deep Dene a high density unit is under construction as of May '03, and there are still sections right on the 'main street' that lie vacant, in various stages of repair.  Residents interested in the development and renovation of the area should attend the Association meetings and discuss with the local politicians what is 'coming down the pike' for Highland Creek Village. Even in the next year, many changes could be anticipated.

Ted's Restaurant, well known locally for good food at reasonable prices, is also our own "Hollywood North", having been used as a locale in a recent film "Pushing Tin". This summer, 1999, saw Ms. Debbie Reynolds on location here. Highland Creek has become very popular recently with the motion picture/television industry. It is under new management as of spring 2003.

Run by the Spiritan Fathers, St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church is the oldest R.C. church in Scarborough. Located at the north-west corner of Morrish Road and Old Kingston Road, it recently underwent major expansion renovations to accommodate its growing number of parishioners.
